Day 2 – So now you have your bio? Sell yourself to me in 30 seconds!

Take-home for this lesson is: Are you confident about who you are? If yes, show me!

In the last lesson, I asked for your available social media handles, and for you to come up with a befitting bio for your available handles, and you must have gotten my feedback by now.

It is only fitting that a person managing a company’s social media handles, portray themselves in good light on their own personal accounts.

Even though opinions on your social media timelines are your own and not that of your employers, do you really believe a company you represent would not be worried if you constantly post harmful content on your personal handles?

I will leave you to decide what is harmful content!

In this lesson, I want you to sell yourself in a 30 seconds video!

In this era of digitalization of work and living, those who get to the top will not always be the best writers or readers, but also the most confident, those who believe they can! If you do not believe in yourself, who will? Share on X

Now lets’ practice selling yourself using the words in your bio from our previous lesson, and under 30 seconds!

It’s okay to suck when you first try when recording a video, sometimes it takes me 50 takes to get it right.

So if at first, you do not succeed in this, dust yourself up and try again! Aaliyah said that not me, but I agree with her 100%.

Your video script should read like this:

  • Greeting (Hi or Hello, etc)
  • Your name (who you are or what you want to be called or known as)
  • What you do (or what you are into, what are you good at? or even what are your interests)
  • A call-to-action (What do you want anyone who sees this video to do after watching?)

Always, always add a call to action! Because if you make a video introducing yourself, then what? Why should anyone want to reach out to you? Remember, you are trying to build your network of people who should remember your name!

So go ahead and make a video, when you are done, upload it to your preferred cloud storage (google drive, onedrive, or dropbox) then share the link with me on our Slack!
